• Audiometry: audiometric tests determine a patient's hearing levels with the help of an audiometer, but may also measure ability to discriminate between different sound intensities, recognize pitch, or distinguish speech from background noise. Acoustic reflex and otoacoustic emissions may also be measured. Results of audiometric tests are used to diagnose hearing loss or diseases of the ear.
• Tympanomotry: is a test used to detect disorders of the middle ear by measuring your ear's responses to the sound and different pressures. Before the test, your AudigyCertified™ professional will look inside your ear canal to make sure there is a clear path to your eardrum. Next, a device is placed into your ear. This device changes the air pressure in your ear and makes the eardrum move back and forth. A machine records the results on graphs called tympanograms.
• Vestibular testing: consists of a number of tests that help determine if there is something wrong with the vestibular (balance) portion of the inner ear. These tests can help isolate dizziness symptoms to a specific cause that can often be treated.
• Vestibular rehabilitation: the goal of vestibular rehabilitation is to retrain the brain to recognize and process signals from the vestibular system in coordination with information from vision and proprioception.
• Hearing Instrument sales, fittings, and service: If a patient is determined to be a candidate for a hearing system based upon their examination results, all options are discussed with the patient including style of the hearing instrument and technology level required to meet their communication goals. The hearing devices are then programmed to match their unique hearing loss. At this point every patient undergoes comprehensive instruction on how to listen again. All patients are also instructed on use and care of the hearing instruments and follow-up tests are performed to assure optimal programming of the devices.
